In the Dallas morning news, I talked about why buyers aren’t prioritizing short commutes when looking for a home. I think people aren’t prioritizing short commutes because, for one, houses close to city centers are extremely expensive, so they have no choice but to move farther. Also, a lot of jobs allow their employees to work from home. That’s also helpful. So a short commute is not as important as it used to be. Another reason is for the space. A lot of people now, because of the pandemic, want more space for their kids, want more space for a pool and a yard. And a lot of times, that’s only affordable outside of city centers. And now, with the pandemic, that’s one of the most important things to them. In short, Zillow and others are saying that people now aren’t looking to live close to the city anymore. And I think these are the reasons why.
